Hello! My name is Jake Karraker, and I’m a Realtor with Engel & Volkers. My passion for sunny skies, great weather and sugar-white sandy beaches drove me to convince my wife that we should move to the Emerald Coast during a vacation in 2012. With over 9 years of experience in Othopedic Surgical sales, I easily found work within the area. Demands and stress of being in the operating room began to wear heavily, and I soon found myself enviously watching my wife enjoy her work within the local Real Estate market.
It was easy to see that helping people find, negotiate and close on their “dream home” could be extremely worthwhile. I soon made the decision to step away from assisting surgeons in the operating room and step towards helping people buy and sell property in this area we call, “a little piece of Emerald Heaven.”
In making the transition, my wife and I decided that we would only go in this direction with the goal of providing superior service. Just as I had provided doctors, nurses and medical professionals with all options needed (and a few they didn’t know they may need), I wanted to do the same in the field of Real Estate.
It’s my opinion that this can only be achieved by carefully listening to client’s needs. Once achieved, finding multiple “perfect options” and making them feel like they are my main priority is the only goal. Because they are. My favorite question that I enjoy hearing is, “Are we your only client, because I feel like we are?”
I don’t consider that a question, it’s actually a compliment. And “no”, I have many clients.
1. The little things. In my world of customer service, there are no little things. Everything is important and treated in this manner. Whether its answering phone calls/text messages, filming a “Video Viewing” of a listed home or finding the perfect financing option, it always gets done in record time.
2. Worry Free Experience. Let’s face it, shopping/listing for a home can be stressful. I can’t guarantee to eliminate this emotion, but I can do my best to minimize. Specifically, clients receive itineraries of homes to be viewed the day before our tour. Binders that contain all pertinent information of each of these homes is provided the day of our tour in order for clients to relax and experience the home instead of just remember it. And lastly, a video of each home will be delivered to your phone as you’re literally stepping out of it. All of these tools will allow us to have fun during our day!
3. Cutting edge Listings techniques. Photos are standard. Videos are more insightful. However, videos with a human component will entertain and spread virally throughout the internet which has a better chance of finding the perfect buyer. In addition, I believe in “on-the-turn” open houses. This simply means that during the turnover from one group of vacationers to the next, I’ll be there having an open house. What better way to show your listing to potential buyers? Right?
